My Demons. (Part I)

Post by Zer00 »

"Come child, there is nothing more for you to see here." - Said the hooded figure, as he placed his hand on my shoulder.

With that, I knew they were gone.

I was five when it happend, the so called witch hunt of the village I used to call home. I can remember every detail to the thinnest, for every time I close my eyes, the visions still haunt me.

Its was hard for me, as a child to understand why they would do it, I admit.

The way the barged in to the house at a late night hour, forcing us out of bed, screaming at us all kinds of words such as "Aberrations", "Deformed" and "Deviations", which I really couldnt comprehend at the time, Yet, screaming is screaming, and you could understand there was some aggression to it. Once in,

they pillaged everything they could find, from our money, to the art which hanged on the walls, to father's weaponrey and collections of various items.

I remember the way they ripped mommy's clothes off and what later I understood, since I couldn't comprehend at the time, raped her brutally, while daddy and I were forced to watch her, she tried to fight them, yet cries for help and screaming were the only way that her struggle came to play.

Only in quite a later age I found it it were because of their blood, their so called "heritage". "Devilspawn", they called them, and I as well.

When they finished with mommy, they decided that it were time for them to burn, along with little me, their only son. Daddy, at that moment went in to some rage, causing a commotion that allowed me to escape outside in to the night and watch from a distance.

In a great boom, the house began to burn, and I saw a shadow of a crowd pushing two people towards the village square, humiliating them as they do so with random punches and whipping.

They tied them to a pole, and began stacking wood and hay, pouring quite alot of oil on it, apperantly they wanted mommy and daddy in a nice crispy texture, bastards.

While standing there in the distant night, hiding behind a large tree, a large cloaked figure who wore black approached uncareless and unnoticing me.

"You shouldn't be standing there, child." - His voice was calming, yet, scary.

"W...Who are you?" - I freaked for a moment, I tried to take a look at his face, yet, the hood covered the most of it, I could only see his lips and a pair of piercing teal eyes. The words barely came out of my mouth, and when they did, there was barely any tone to them.

"A friend of your father's, he asked of me to take care of you." - He said. I trusted him. What other choice did I have?

Suddenly, a large flame errupted to the sky, which's source was the village square. Accompanied by the orchestral screams and cries of pain of my parents, and the cheers and calls of so called "justice" of the villagers.

I was paralized by the sight. I couldn't avert my eyes away, and I tried hard to. I couldn't move my hands to my ears to seclude myself from the screams. Its like the whole world were focused on the sight.

After about a half an hour, the fire calmed and looked like a pleasent bonfire which was lit by a crowd of drunk villagers which now sing and dance around it. If it werent for the circumstances, I think I might have joined them.

I've never once seen them shed tear once during the whole act, it was sad in a way, I thought. But the man told me that tried to look strong for me, so I will not see them as weak.

"Why did they do this?" - I asked, still focusing on the flames which reflected of my eyelids, I was entranced by them in a way, not able to look away.

"They feared your blood. They feared who you are and were." - He answered in a brief sentence, as if speaking to someone of an older age.

"Can I look at them a little longer?" - I asked, as if hoping he would say no, but he agreed with a short nod.

After about fifteen minutes or so, he approached again.

"Come child, there is nothing more for you to see here." - Said the hooded figure, as he placed his hand on my shoulder.

With that, I knew they were gone. A tear was finally shed from my eye, I wanted more to fall, but they just didnt. What a sad thing am I? my parents were just brutally murdered and I, I just stand there, staring at them, not weeping or crying, but barely shedding a tear.

"Where are we going to?" - I asked him.

"Urmlaspyr." - He briefly said as he grabbed me and mounted me on his horse. Everything in that point suddenly seemed irrelevant.

He mounted the horse, and pulled the herse. Thus we started our journey towards the border of Sembia.

We arrived at Urmlaspyr, and he set a room for me in his quite large house.

It were very clean and set-up.

"Sleep, child, you have much to learn." - He said, closing the door behind him.

I could hear his heavy boots clank on the stone floor, as he moved down the halls of his house.

I closed my eyes.
