Travel Journal of Argos Klax of Cimbar

Post by jmecha »

I am alone, and perhaps I am lonely and seeking company through writing down my own thoughts along this journey? It has been a year since I set out from Cimbar as a passenger aboard a merchant ship. My hair has grown long and I have taken to wearing a beard. I have learned that I rather dislike pants and the climate of the north that makes them practical. I have yet to find the Greater Realms I left home to explore, perhaps the Moonshae Islands will be as full of wonders as the sailors claim. Though I should note that the first time I heard mention of the “Moonsaes” I thought I was over hearing a conversation between deck hands about a Sailor’s Disease caught upon shore leave in a questionable port.

The farms of Chessenta, regardless of which City State they belong have always taken an attitude of quality over quantity, the Ffolk are an interesting sort in that they have found a way to grow and harvest both. Never before have I encountered a people who take such cultural pride in vegetables. I should make the distinction that they are taking pride in their own vegetables which maybe of importance. I have never been a farmer myself though I would imagine I might also take pride in my produce if it was my own and I was not a mere serf toiling away in another man’s field. Perhaps there is something to be learned here about agriculture?

A year’s worth of traveling to distant lands has left my once full purse flaccid, and I need to turn my mind to acquiring coins. From what little I have so far seen of the Moonshae Isles I fear that I am lacking in sellable skills. What little skill I have as a sailor is enough to gain me passage, but far from enough to earn me the purse of coins I will need to continue traveling comfortably. I could perhaps follow in the footsteps of my father and seek to find myself a position as a teacher, though from what I have seen of the Ffolk they are a hard working and well skilled in their given professions, but a simple people with no interest in furthering education outside of their station in life. I have heard that the Capital of the Moonshaes is upon the Isle of Alaron, perhaps there I may find gainful employment.
