The Rescue
by Ashale'n Dervise
The tale of Carion’s rescue of his daughter and Lady from the clutches of a vampire, with the help of Oxoi a dwarf, Rhekka a elven mage, Millia and Soppi a pair of hins as well as Daramir and Walon two stalwart warriors.
The day had, for once, dawned clear and bright,
Mother and daughter went out to see the sights.
Stopped by the Dagger to chat with ‘ole Fil,
When appeared a dark figure with intent evil.
He rushed swiftly forward to envelope the pair,
Crowing that they would be gifts for Okran Osemeir.
In a flash, he ported them far away,
As friends of the pair were left in dismay.
Tyr’s priest entered moments after the ‘napping,
To find those at the Dagger worried at the happening.
Learning that Okran had taken his offspring,
Overcome with rage, ‘til Tyr’s heralds came declaring.
To the North of the city, they said, had opened a gateway,
They looked about asking who would join the fray.
Soppi, Millia and Rhekka rallied to the cause
As well as Oxoi, Walon and Daramir to give pause.
So Carion with companions six set off to face the foe,
To rescue his precious child and the woman he loved so…
Along the path north were the undead amassing,
Vampires and zombies stood to impede their passing.
The gate finally entered to find a crypt dank,
With mist hanging thickly and stench of death rank.
After cutting down more of the walking unliving,
The dark figure appeared, “flee for your lives” the warning it was giving.
Thru the maze the did venture forward with care
Seeking the master of this miserable lair.
First found they Silli a vampire old
Who had turned Okran long ago it was told.
She threw herself viciously into the fray,
There to be slain without mercy, in the melee.
Cut off her head and tore out her heart,
Tyr’s priest felt a rage deep for her part.
Beyond lay a bridge blocked by a spirit
Mockingly told them ” I see your not killed yet”
Calling Tyr’s might he told it to go away,
Then it moved from the path, and a door did display
Beyond destiny’s door another portal did lay,
Unfazed by the drama the hins followed the way.
Portal led deeper into the vampire’s lair
Beyond many crypts found a dining room there.
Okran did greet them asked of their names,
To know what had brought them into his domain.
Arrogantly told them, his power would he show,
As undead behind them, rushed in as he fled below.
Corpses once more were laid out from unrest,
Unlife draining from them by sharp swords caress.
As the battle ended a child’s cry did resound,
Followed the cry till the master they found.
All alone in the mist He stood like a beacon,
Facing the heroes without confidence shaken.
The heroes did circle the vampires ‘round,
Okran then charged Carion, with rage quite profound.
Blow upon blow as blades bit deep..
‘Til the vampires power, did away seep.
With divine fury and a swords final thrust,
Osmeir’s power was gone and he crumbled to dust.
The hin’s and the dwarf then set the pair free,
Where they were chained to a wall in captivity.
His child and Lady were safe once more,
As Tyr’s Heralds came to escort all to the door.

Welcome Verses
Very nice indeed! One does so love to partake of good verse, and when a tale is included with it, it is all the more pleasurable. It is the knowledge of such poetic activities that adds to the bittersweet torment in that I am unable to ascend and indulge in the company of other bards.
It has been my experience that, given the opportunity, people will in the end do what they truly desired to do in the beginning. Save time, let them, then they have only themselves to blame or you to thank.
