Highway To The Danger Zone
Guron Kallidon halted his garron who obeyed with a nervous whickering. The old swordsman sat alert atop his horse, looking west of the road into the forest of pine. The hills to the east bristled with dead tallgrass dancing to the wind and Selune shone watchfully overhead. Her midnight light gave the landscape a ghostly pallor as Guron listened to silence unnatural. Just the wind shaking pine-needled boughs and stretches of grass reached his ears. Suddenly his horse stomped a hoof in restless protest. Guron caught a glimpse of movement in the shadows of the evergreens.
