Library Challenge - June "Immortality"

Post by loulabelle »

The SFF group has spoken and we decided on Immortality thanks to this sentence from Wikipedia:

"In Iceland, folklore says that if you bathe naked in the morning dew on the morning of June 24, you are supposed to keep aging at bay for longer."

(skinny dipping optional)

Heroes

I have found that heroes are not always stoic, their promises are not always kept,
and their fleeting cowardice is not a fear of danger, a fear of pain, of darkness, or of evil.
Heroes like servants, and saints are born of fire.
They are the children of injustice, the progeny of abuses,
But they become, for some reason, for some imagination, the exception.

The Code:
I will not give up on humanity,
I will be an example of Honor,
I will lift the weak upon my shoulders,
I will be the exceptional person, and my excellence will shine beyond my words into my deeds.

Fear for a hero, is having no one to save,
Fear is of loving, fear of having joy,
Fear is of being lost forever, alone in swamp of sorrow, or worse aerie of harpies in heat.
Fear for a hero, is the sound of his brothers skull cleft by a killer impossible to reach,
Or their true love riding off in the arms of a rich man,
Or the last gold coin sliding from an empty pouch.

The Liabilities:
I will always have enemies,
I will lose those I love, no matter how well I guard them.
My words and deeds are weighed by all eyes.
There will be those who will wait like starving wolves to seize your throat when I am weak,
and there are those who will take advantage of your skill and generosity.

These things do not matter to the face of a true hero;
Oh Protectors and Mediators of Humanity,
No more than an insurmountable foe, unrequited love, and a dishonest government.

I have met many heroes in my lifetime, they are as thus.
Some fear death, some do not, but all will as I will, rot.

Hoping to get onto this one soon. Diablo 3 is vicious for sucking up free time.
