Midnight ponderings.

Post by Zer00 »

*A quiet, quite weak night in the black stag, the hour is about the fourth hour, two hours afore the first strike of Lathander's face.
two men, apperantly road wanderers are the only ones I can see around, that is, aside for my own shadow and Jelkins who's busy in counting his money and cleaning his bar.*

"I hear Cormyr be under trouble 'o sorts, they be rallying all avail troops outside o Arabel I be hearin." Said one of them, he seemed about the age of thirty years, rough, dirty, heavy beard. Definantly not of the merchant type... perhaps he were one of the escorts? yes, perhaps that.

"Aye lad, I be hearin da same... all lords were called ta give in troops and lands fer trainin or so... no one really knows what for howeva'... whateva it be fore, me bets it be somethin' big... perhaps a big war or sorts." - Said the other one while taking a grande swig from his ale. He was more of a shaven sort of fellow than his other friend, quite full as well, reminded me of a large bouncer that there are sometimes outside of casinos... heh.

I quietly took a sip from my Arabellan red-wine glass. it werent exactly the same taste that the name suggested it were, but the taste were more or less the same. *sigh*.
Cormyr in trouble? well, either that or some big parade is about to happen, which I highley doubt of. Lords werent be called to lend a hand just so, I'm curious now. hmph.

They babbled on and on, talking about their horses, the stock prices for hay, the fact that the ale mug seemed to finish quite quickly than anticipated... eventually they wandered off.

Silence.

Oh how I appreciated silence sometimes. Not even the sound of Jelkins counting coins or muttering about the annoying cliente' while scrubbing his bar clean could be heard.

I digged my pocket, and picked a coin from it which I found not too long ago... staring at one side of it, I remembered the words of an old man which I met.

I stared at one of the engravings which seemed to coming to life in a way... Wait... No, it was just me and my lack of sleep again, heh. Yet, I kept staring at it for a while...

"Once a Dragon, always A Dragon". A voice suddenly ran through my head, I shivered for a moment, raising my head to look around and see no one aside for Jelkins leaning his head on the counter aside the ale sink drinking out of the keg.

I took a sip from my wine glass, looked at the coin again and quietly recited the words that were running through my head a few times.

"Is it time?" I asked the coin, hoping for an answer, knowing it will never truely come.

I imagined her face, and the faces of all the surroundings for a moment, looking at me, with a despising look even though they have said those words to me, do they really expect me to comply to those words? am I to answer their call?

I'll investigate this further, before risking my head, I guess.

I sipped from my wine glass, quietly leaving a few coins as I headed off towards the cold streets of Selgaunt.
