Variant Classes
Re: Variant Classes
I'd love to play a Cloistered Cleric. I always disliked clerics running around in full plate
There is no real option of playing a priest in ALFA. The only thing you can play is an adventuring combat-cleric.
Go Cloistered Cleric!

pragmatic (adj.)
The opposite of idealistic is pragmatic, a word that describes a philosophy of "doing what works best."
From Greek pragma "deed," the word has historically described philosophers and politicians who were
concerned more with real-world application of ideas than with abstract notions. A pragmatic person
is sensible, grounded, and practical.

Indeed, Boom speaks awesomeness. I too feel like the pedantic, robed priest is underrepresented in our little PW.boombrakh wrote:I'd love to play a Cloistered Cleric. I always disliked clerics running around in full plate

Seriously. This here needs to be a top priority. I'll be all over this. I'll retire my character and start from scratch.DarkHin wrote:Indeed, Boom speaks awesomeness. I too feel like the pedantic, robed priest is underrepresented in our little PW.

Re: Variant Classes
Bah! The last priest I played (the last PC I played, I think...) was a priest like that. Never wore armor, refused to attack anyone. He was there only to releave the suffering of those in need. And spread the word of Ilmater, of course.

Re: Variant Classes
Just because clerics have heavy armor proficiency doesn't mean it's mandatory to play a tin can. No one stops people from playing something which fits one of the above listed concepts, it's just that "voluntarily ignoring a class benefit" doesn't get you anything in return, like skill points or a bonus domain per the Cloistered Cleric example.
ALFA NWN2 PCs: Rhaggot of the Bruised-Eye, and Bamshogbo
ALFA NWN1 PC: Jacobim Foxmantle
ALFA NWN1 Dead PC: Jon Shieldjack

Re: Variant Classes
Actually... increasing Intelligence at the expense of Strength gives skillpoints but lowers carrying capacity; possibly to the point where a field plate armour is no longer a viable option.Brokenbone wrote:it's just that "voluntarily ignoring a class benefit" doesn't get you anything in return, like skill points or a bonus domain per the Cloistered Cleric example.

What's happening here? Anything? Diversity is a good thing.

Re: Variant Classes
Nothing happened here. I guess nothing can be approved by anyone with the authority to do so, because there's nothing to approve yet. And noting is being made, 'cause there's no approval yet.
Welcome to ALFA.
How about we focus on one of these classes, say the Cloistered Cleric, and get stuff moving? Tech-heads: can the Cloistered Cleric be made to work in the game?
