I would love to crack out NWN1 again and DM a bit. I miss NWN1 - was way better than this current thing we play.

NWN1 had some tools for Hak synchronization as well :
http://sourceforge.net/projects/alfahakupdater/

I still should have the .exe version somewhere.

Edit: everything is still here http://bgalfa052.free.fr/Haks/3.0/

Of those 3, only WD would be ready to go. TPI and TLR were never updated to the last hak release so would take some work to get updated if you wanted to use them.

I'm just dreaming.

I think Selgaunt would be quite a neat one to bring back - not as nice looking as NC was, but caters to a wider range of character. By memory it was the last (or second last) shut down.

I recall fleeing eastward as the servers went dark.

Got off of TLR shortly before she closed and made it to WD. I think I was the last player on WD (or close to it) and got to BG...I think I made it to the portal about 48 hours ahead of dark........ to transit through to SD and then to Sembia.

I do have a wistful longing to the old NWN1. But I don't think that loning is platform based.....just wish we had the same number of players now as we did then.

*shrugs* Oh well... I enjoy ALFA as she is now too :)
PCs: NWN1: Trailyn "Wayfarer" Krast, Nashkel hayseed

Hero says he might be able to host. Zelk says there isn't much techy stuff that would need doing. Swift says some of the modules are updated with the latest haks. Someone says that the latest haks are still floating around.

Soo..., let's give it a try!

Anyone know where the latest haks are stored? I know I've seen some of the modules on the DM FTP, so will try and grab a couple from there and see how they go. Does anyone remember which were updated?

Water deep, Sembia, Northern Cormyr, Baldur's Gate, The Silver Marches and Daggerford I can confirm all work on the last set of haks released as Veilan and I have periodically used them to run sporadic private sessions for a small Group of PCs in the years since we officially closed the NWN servers.

That, obviously, means Veilan and I have copies of the haks. I am sure we are not the only ones though if we are, I am sure I could manage to upload them to the FTP.

Get some people willing to DM, decide on a server and see if the host machine can be set up and we should be in a better position. At worst, very few play and we close it down again or run it as a purely campaign server like most ended up before the shutdown anyway.

I'm thinking a campaign server may be the way to go anyway - at least to start with. Don't want to steal limited player numbers from NWN2.

While I never played NWN1, my common sense tingles to point this as the core wisdom here.
Cloud wrote:Cloud annoyed. Cloud posts ranty comment on board about NWN2. Cloud wonders if anyone ever reads comments esp authors of such articles?
What? You mean writing ranty comments about internet articles isn't the best way to make an impact in this world? My whole life has been a lie...

Seems to me the article mostly misses what is the point at NWN, at least to me: Live DMAge, the whole world at your fingertips when there's a person controlling the gameworld, as opposed to navigating through a pre-set progress tree.

NWN2 offers that, too. What NWN1 did better was made it easy to toolset - hence the hordes of custom content on the vault, compared with NWN2 stuff.
